3 speed column shift? Or a 4 speed?
They are common around here. The hard one to find is the T98 version for the 52 and older . You would have to make an adapter with a 4 speed hogs head.to use the np435 |

Re: Np435 on 8ba
Maybe. Not all of the early 4 speeds have the hogs head that bolts on. But pretty much all of the 48 to 52 trucks I have taken apart have had the bolt on style unless its had a earlier transmission installed.
With the stock hogs head you still have to make an adapter plate to bolt the NP transmission to it. Usually you have to start with a piece of aluminum 1" thick and machining is involved. You need to measure the length of the input shaft on the NP and compare it to the T9. |

Re: Np435 on 8ba
According to Novak, the input shaft is 6.5" long, 1-1/16" in diameter, with 10 splines. The retainer flange is 4.85", with a diameter of 1.43". The bolt pattern is 8.5" wide by 6-5/16" tall.

Not saying it can't be done, but it's not for the faint of heart. The crossmember is an important part of the frame, and supports the brake and clutch pedals. The trans needing the least amount of hacking is... a C-4 automatic.

Re: Np435 on 8ba
3-speed top loaders are still easy to find unless you just want more speeds. I like the old 3-speed with an F1 but it would have to be the early set up more than likely. They made one for the late type gears in 1951 but it's not as easy to find as the early ones 48 through early 51.
