This looks very much like a promotional photo.

Nice looking '41 Ford wagon, except for the missing LH grill section and the ding in the rear fender. It's hard to tell but the RH grill section may be missing also. Cowl mounted antenna suggest a radio. The last one I saw (~ 1960) was RHD, suspect that it came over after world war II.

The lady's not bad lookin' either.

A '41 wagon was a rare bird.....don't think I have ever even seen a picture of one.

My first thought was also promotional photo, but I don't see anything being promoted, unless it's the girl herself. For some reason I'm thinking it is a picture from a TV show.

It looks like she’s pointing at the big hammer and the kid is reaching for it. I wonder what’s she’s planning to fix with that?

I'm wondering what she cut under the hood with those lopping shears on the ground next to the drivers' door.

The 41 wagon appears to be one of the budget "Special " models. They weren't as shiny as the Deluxe or Special Deluxe models. The woman appears to be pointing at what she wants the little helper to get for her.

I wonder what that photo was representing? As if it was staged for advertising.

Life magazine is a very plausible explanation. They did a lot of stories about women stepping up and coping on the homefront while the men were off serving.I can see that picture being used for an article about mom keeping the family car running.

Shortages and manufacturing cut-backs or suspensions didn't really get serious until late '42 into '43 and for the rest of the war. There would be no problem getting tires in '40 or '41. Shortages of many things, like cars, carried on after the war ended for a couple of years.
