Default I cut open the Ford Scrip battery case

It was not easy as I though it would be. But I did get it done. The battery inside was very small with no markings who made it?It was 4 1/2 inch wide and 5 1/2 inch long 6 inch tall. I will show you some pictures. I got a Battery at Rural King that the correct size as the Ford case. I am going to try to make it work.

I wonder who made this Battery. It has no markings only NEG and POS. It did not last only a year and 6 months. Pretty expensive

That (the old battery) is a lawn mower battery. Farm & Fleet, Tractor Supply...
A year and a half is about it.

Yep. I removed the small battery from mine that the sides were about to explode. After a lot of work I installed a red top optima battery in the case.

The case is smaller then the later case . My 1940 Ford takes a larger battery but what in that case? So if you are going to restore a 32 Ford and want a Battery that looks like a 32 Battery there a lawn mower battery in the case that only last a year and maybe 6 months more. Big rip-off. Glad I open up my Battery. Hope others that are restoring a 32 Ford reads this.

The Lawn Mower Battery at Tractor Supply only has a 6 Month Warranty, so you get a Ford case and a cheap Battery for almost $400. dollars. Now the price of Battery has gone up how much now. At Tractor Supply now 50. dollars What a bargain

The batteries in my 40 coupe and wagon I purchased many years ago already had Optimas inside. I keep them on tenders and so far, they have lasted. They were expensive at the time but not by today's prices.

The 32 Ford Battery is a lot smaller then the 40 Battery. My 40 Ford Battery has a Optima Battery also.

I go to Batteries Plus and buy a 6 volt "traditional' lead-acid Duracell battery - works great, fits in a 32 Ford, lasts many years, but doesn't have the Ford Script case (which I don't care about).

They put that small battery in that case and then pour epoxy in there to anchor that battery inside the case. What a pita. !!

What was done about the different battery post spacing between the script case and the small battery?

How many different suppliers or makers are there of Ford script batteries? Are they all the same quality? We're all just saying "Ford Script Batteries" like there's only one place that they are all made from. I'm pretty sure there are at a few places making these, Am I wrong?

As of right now, Carpenter does not list any battery. C&G lists a 6v & 12v " Ford Script " battery, both out of stock. The 6v says it's a "maintenance free" battery. Both have a 4 year warranty. The 6 is $367 & the 12 is $385. I wrongly "assumed" that the high price was because there was an Optima hidden inside, not a garden tractor battery. My bad.
Hey, Petehoovie, it looks like you got a new car for Christmas!! Have fun driving it! JPL

Battery Central is one source. Be sure to check that the battery is in stock before placing an order. They also don't stock all types of EFV8 batteries. I don't know where they get their batteries, but they seem legit.

A lawn mower battery would be 12 volt; his car is 6 volts

The reproduction batteries may have had several manufacturers over the years. Since they aren't original tar tops then they were likely made by different plastics mold shops. Folk have also been altering original tar tops as well but they aren't easy to find in good shape as they once were.

Way long gone are the days when batteries were actually rebuilt utilizing new plate sets.

EPA put them out of business, same as chrome shops.
