Sad time - putting my Coupe for sale
I have posted my ‘30 Coupe in the for sale section. I’m not able to crawl under it anymore and can’t work on it. It belonged to my best friend in California and I bought it from his widow 9 years ago. I have had a great time owning it and want it to go to a good home. It’s a great little car and a blast to drive. I will miss it terribly, but I know it’s time to say goodbye.

You are a prudent man. To everything there is a season…. Ecclesiastes 3 I’m there myself and trying to systematically let go of a myriad of parts!! Don’t want them to be sold by the pound…lots of great stuff |

I have much pleasure simply by looking at mine. Do keep yours to do that.

I second that oldbluoval, and that's coming from a scrapper. I will never scrap any car or car part made before 2010. I took off my battery box when it was starting to rust, but kept it because imho, scrapping any part of a model a should carry a life sentance

Yes, sad. However, you can't even get anyone to work on a Model-A, unless you have a willing son, or son-in-law. You are doing the right thing, even though it is painful.

Re: Sad time - putting my Coupe for sale
Just went through the same thing last month. I owned the car 42 years. It was like a member of our family. But, it was the right thing to do.
If you are no longer able to safely drive or work on them. They deserve going to a new owner who can. We are only caretakers. Enjoy. |

It happens to all of us but fortunately for me, not me - yet.
I regard all the getting up and wriggling under my exercise regime.

I really sympathize with Huddy and others with the similar problems. I have six pre-war Fords and which I have owned and enjoyed for many years. I'm 87 and am in about the same shape as Huddy. My 68-year-old son-in-law has been helping me with repairs for some years. Two weeks ago, he was found to have esophageal cancer and now is in worse shape than I am. I can't believe how fast he has gone downhill with this.

However, I was wrong. It sold in three days on Hemmings. Sold for full price. Car had 702 views, 27 followers, and 11 emails asking if it was still for sale. Maybe I was luck but the last Model A that I sold on Hemmings five years ago only took two weeks. You have to be careful what you wish for. Enjoy. |

Re: Sad time - putting my Coupe for sale
I think WoofaExpress has the right idea. I would have someone help you get the car greased and change the oil. Perhaps from now on you will only put 100 miles on it in a year driving around your neighborhood. Change coolant every 3-4 years. The car will last forever. You don't have to get under it any more. I get a lot of satisfaction of owning my Model A and running my fingers under the edges of the front fender every time I go into the garage. Ed

Thank you for all the kind comments.
I’ve added a couple more photos to the listing, and will post more when I get her out of her bubble for the summer. |

The more information you can give, the better the chance of getting a good offer. Have a realistic idea of what the sale price should be. I have always priced the car at the price I expect to sell it for. I have not had to just take the best offer. Luckily sold for the fair asking price. Don’t listen to the “you can always come down”. You may never get the chance. Price, condition, and history. Good luck. Enjoy. |

There might not be many....but there IS younger guys who would love to learn from someone like you and would help you work on your car as needed. Good luck with your decision. ...

Re: Sad time - putting my Coupe for sale
I inherited an older car but with a modern power train. It had been parked for a few years and it made it a lot harder for me to suddenly have to learn everything without the person who put it together.

Re: Sad time - putting my Coupe for sale
I agree!!! Please keep your car! It brings you so much pleasure and you need that in life. Keep it and enjoy spending time with it even if it’s just to sit along side and remember the good times! Woofa is right!
