y blockers

here are pic's of NAPA replacement pushrods.

the press in tops are cone shaped and

they have press in bottom ball ends.

my couple of replacement pushrods are just like these.

the old ones are beginning to look like solid ones to me.

i don't see any seams at top and bottom.

they have a funny feel weight wise, i don't know

what they're made of.

doesn't feel like solid steel.

have a nice day!

More than likely those push rods were replaced due to a few different problems , like a bent push rod or one that was worn for one reason or another .
I build and rebuild engines and have done many of them over the last 40 years !
Now listen to what I am going to say , "Oil does not go through the push rods because it's a solid lifter engine ! That means you don't need oil being pushed through a hollow push rod from the lifter to the rocker arms ." The hollow push rods were made for the Y block to save money , period .
The oil that gets to the rocker arms on a Y block come through the rocker shaft .
Now if you can't get it this way then do just like everyone else here does and BUY A DAMN Y BLOCK BOOK AND READ IT !

Just asking the damn same old questions all the time will get you the same damn answers !

Yes oil will get splashed from the rockers and then drip down the push rods but I was referring to the one that is used in a flat tap engine .
That guy doesn't have a clue on what the hell he is doing , nor does he even take time to listen to people trying to help him .
Waste of time for all !

staying on the subject here, the solid pushrods

feel like they're made out of some Ford alloy.

something between steel and cast iron.

i think that a lot of the model t castings were made

from some material that Ford came up with.

note: in post #8 i said i caught on to how these pushrods work.

have a nice day!

Any body that knows Y Blocks, especially the 50's ones, know that Ford never used tubular pushrods. They always used the skinny ones. Not sure about the 60's Y's.

the pushrods come in solid and tubular.

Mummert has a nice picture of a solid

one cracked from fatigue.

the tubular do not carry the oil like on

later engines, they're just lighter.

i would say if you buy new ones, get the tubular and

make sure their the right length.

have a nice day!

At the bottom end, splash. At the top, from the oil holes in the rockers.

Say, all american boy, where are you located? Maybe someone from The Barn could drop by and give you a hand, maybe show you how these Y blocks work.

Our 292 went bye-bye.

What are you talking about?

I haven't posted here in months.

Why would I want to see somebody in person about an engine that

isn't here?
