Default Flushing out shocks

I grabbed a couple of houdalle shocks at the National. Does it make any sense to flush them out with carb cleaner? One moves; the other barely.

I use hyd. jack oil in mine. back off the adjustment to softest position and cycle oil thru them, dump and repeat. refill and adj. to desired stiffness.

I want to flush mine.
Looking at the shock with the lever faceing me which way do I drain and flush?
Will the adjustment fitting unscrew?
I need some help here,

A while back There was a full overhaul procedure posted and exploded views etc.
Do a search
,if you cant find it let me know I have it in hard copy.
