Default Cracks in Valley Floor. Did this motor freeze?

We pulled this 59A motor apart and after hand-cleaning the sludge (it was like the La Brea Tar Pits) we had it tanked and magnafluxed.

Three long cracks were revealed across the floor of the valley. Is this do to the block freezing at some point?

The motor came from Southern Calif, but there's no guarantee it spent its life there. Anyone seen this before?

Well, the one on the wall of the water jacket I'd blame on a freeze up. But the couple on top of the lifer bore is something different to me, there no water there, strange. Walt

For several years I had the feeling such cracks were a result of freezing. But, I have since altered my opinion to say "maybe, maybe not". I have seen too many of those to think ALL have been frozen.
