Re: bob drake flathead carburator
I assume this is the 8BA version of the 2100 Holley series (old model 94). I don't know the quality of the seals, gaskets, or power valves used in these new units but even the old originals can leak like a sieve if there is a problem. Modern fuels with added alcohol are not kind to soft parts but some parts are better quality than others.
Has this carb been in service for this time period or not? It might be easier to just rebuild it than mess with an out of warranty situation with a vendor. Charley NY and others could do you better than sending it to the vendor and you will have some piece of mind working with a reputable rebuilder too. If your so inclined, you can get a good quality kit and do it yourself. |

Excellent advice from rotorwrench. Exactly what I'd do in the same situation. If Charlie NY fixes it, it'll be done correctly & tested.

Re: bob drake flathead carburator
So it's leaking near the top of the carb where the operating rod is??

Hey Bob I don't care where you send it or who you send it to all I'm saying is to be able to explain what the problem is. That being said if you could take a picture of where you see the gas coming from it would be a big help in diagnosing the problem. Holley 94 carbs linkage is on the side of the carb and the nozzles are in the middle of the bore. Is the carb leaking internally or externally Take a picture from where you see it dripping and post it. Weather you send it back , to me or anyone else the more info you give will make it easier to repair. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: bob drake flathead carburator
Steve,
Certainly the more information the better that's for sure. My approach with a situation like this is to install the carb on my test motor as received and make an evaluation then contact the customer. Sometimes it's an easy fix and the customer is only out shipping. You never know for sure until you lay hands. Charlie ny |
