Default What kind of engine/intake manifold?

My friend/neighbor just bought a 47 tudor with this engine in it. The heads are marked 59A-B but the intake manifold is very different than my stock one. It has the oil filler where shown and ahead of that a hole that a pipe comes out apparently for blow-by. Is this some kind of different intake manifold for a 59A-B or is it a different engine?

Don't know much about the newer flatheads (after '48.) Do they have the same stock displacement (239 cu. in.) and horsepower (100 hp) or more?

Since the engine has studs rather than bolts holding the heads and there's no sign of the water outlet on the front of the head, it looks to me like its the 59 style engine with an 8ba type intake, like bbrocksr said.

Alternator is mounted on standard alternator bracket that fits in where the stock generator bracket fits.

Camera angle makes it look like it's attached to the csrb but it's not. It's hanging out in mid air inches from the csrb fitting (or did you mean carb rather than csrb.)

So, is it the same displacement and horsepower as my '47 stock engine or more?

I would get a "slingshot" mount for the alternator so it will use both mount holes, slight whitling & shimming, but lower & solid, i believe that hanging wire needs to go to ground?
Also find a road draft tube or swap to the correct manifold. Detailing under the hood will look better, and may not leave him by the roadside. I would be afraid the alternator may wobble at speed, break off and fan/ radiator ouch

If all is as it seems, the engine would be the same diaplacement as a stock '47 engine. Swapping the manifold as Barry WNY suggests is a relatively easy job and would improve the looks, IMHO. No matter what intake manifold the owner uses, he definitely needs a proper alternator mounting bracket for safety reasons. If he wants a 59ab maniflod, PM me.
