51 Mercury steering column diameter

Hello can anyone verify the diameter size on a 51 mercury 3 on the tree steering column i get 2 1/8 is that correct or is it larger thanks

I'm not where I can check one of my 51s but it likely is pretty close to 2 1/8". It has another tube inside to shift the transmission. What is the need? Are you looking to change it out with another the same size.

yes i just want to make sure its 2 1/8 from someone else i messured and thats what i got just want to double check for a project have search the web but no help if you could verify the diameter that would be helpful thanks so much for the reply

I checked mine and it's 2 1/8" diameter.
