1949 Ford Pick Up - Seats/gas tank/steering wheel
Hello All. We are in the final stages of putting a 1949 Ford pick up back together. Wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for seats for front bucket vs bench? How about a steering wheel? Any suggestions that work look good. One last item needed - a new gas tank that fits behind the front seat. Live in the Seattle area. Any help would be appreciated! Much thanks!

Re: 1949 Ford Pick Up - Seats/gas tank/steering wheel
Is your truck stock or have you done suspension upgrades? I probably wouldn't want to go much smaller than stock with the steering wheel if you've got the stock front end. I've always kind of wanted to put a wheel from a 51 Ford car in the ol' girl to spruce her up a little.
I've got the stock seat in mine with the original skin. It looks good still, but if I armor-all it, I have to hang on tight when I go around a corner. Gas tanks are available just about anywhere parts are. Some people upgrade to a mustang tank and mount it in the bed as a safety issue. |

I would go with the stock wheel and seat, no buckets unless you got a high dollar truck. But the tank i would prefer to have it in the ass end, but i get to sit on mine!! LOL !! Ken

I say go stock on the seat and wheel. As for the car steering wheel, that was what was on my 50 F-1 when I got it. My friends father put it on in the late 60's. I didn't want it, so I re-did it and sold it.

LMC Truck has the gas tank as do most of the Ford Truck catalogs, same goes for the steering wheel. You might try LeBaron Bonney for the seat assembly.
