Can anyone tell me, were the seat riser and floor boards hot riveted or were they cold riveted with a waffle tool? Thanks.

If the rivets are 3/16" in diameter and they have a waffle end on them (original rivets) they were set cold. Larger rivets like 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" were set hot (real hot). I'm not sure what you mean by "floorboards" as the floorboards were wood and screwed in place with 12 -24 flathead machine screws. If you are referring to the pan under the seat riser, I believe it is riveted in with 3/16" rivets with a waffle tool. I made a special rivet tool setup to rivet the floorpans, seat riser and trunk platform in my 28 special coupe. If you would like to see a few pictures of it, let me know. I could rivet it all by myself, since my wife wont help me anymore with that kind of stuff.

Yes, I meant to say the floor pan under the seat. There were nuts and bolts before so I was not sure how to fasten the rivets. I have a waffle tool I used for the firewall, I guess it should work. Do you have a CCPU? Thanks wrndln.

Yes, I have a 29 CCPU, but it is setting under a tarp waiting until I finish my 28 special coupe, which is getting close to done and my 29 phaeton I just started on. I hope to get to it in a year or year and a half. The floorpan under the seat riser, I am almost positive, is riveted in place with 3/16" brazierhead rivets using a waffle tool to set them. The best way to do it is to drill all the rivet holes in the pan, if it is a new pan, and use 10-24 or 10-32 round or pan head machine screws to hold the pan in position, then remove one screw at a time and insert the rivet and set it. Of course the head should be on the top side. Hope this helps.
