Has anybody tried Hydro Graphics?
An alternative to traditional woodgraining for dashes and window moldings is a water transfer process using film. It's often referred to as hydro graphics. It's the same process used to apply camouflage patterns to gun stocks, bows, arrow shafts, etc.
Several companies offer this service for car parts, including valve covers, wheels, dash trim, etc. Obviously, this is for the muscle car crowd. I've seen some photos of antique car dashboards and window moldings that have been "woodgrained" in this fashion. The results are impressive. Has anyone used hydro graphics for their Model A? If so, are you pleased with the result? Displeased? Why? Thanks. |

Re: Has anybody tried Hydro Graphics?
When my older brother was restoring early V8s I remember him using some type of heat shrink wrap plastic film for wood graining.

Re: Has anybody tried Hydro Graphics?
I have not seen this in an A, but there is a company in Athens, TX that has done extensive woodgrain in trucks and late model cars. They also do carbon fibre finish on bikes, cars, etc. Their work on gun stocks and other small pieces is impressive. I would think it would be very acceptable for an A.
