Default Dual 97 Stromberg idle jets ?

I have not driven my 32 Ford Roadster V12 Lincoln powered for a few months due to my side engine rebuilding for customers. I have a small popping sound when I am driving than as soon as I am idling you can hear the exhaust popping a lot more and as I start to drive away you can hear it miss and popping more than it will somewhat go away until next time it idles. As any other carburetors I suspect that it is due to the idle jets clogged with some small dirt piece of some sort. The plugs look good I do run both carbs a bit rich here in Arizona do to the heat which is better than to lean. I know we have a lot of construction in the area possibly got a piece of dirt in one of the idle jets.

Thanks
Frenchy

The Carb comes off the idle circuits very shortly after idle, and runs on the mains and the accelerator. Do you experiance bogging, lack of accelation from a stop?? If the idle is not correct remove the idle mixture screws and pump some air (Low pressure 10# or so) and see if this smooths idle. There are two idle holes in the base, one above the throttle plate and the other below with the adjustment screws. If no air you can remove the idle adjustment screws and insert a very small diameter wire (< 0.040")

My experience with dormant motors would have me try some Marvel Mystery Oil in both the gas tank and the crankcase. Primarily in the gas tank. I'm aware that others reading this will not agree. My apologies in advance. Its what I do.

I may of found my problem. I decided to take both carburetors apart to see if I can notice any problems. I cleaned the first carburetor and did not see anything unusual. The second carburetor as I was cleaning and inspecting real good as i had done the other one I notice in one of the main jet I blew air through it and looked in the main jet orifice and noticed some type of blockage or debris.I blew air inside and was still inside I had to get a small pointed tool to remove what was inside I found a small piece of brass who knows where it came from. Put it all back together and will start it up sometime this weekend and see if the engine performs better.I will keep all inform.

Thanks

Better check your filter for more debris.

I think that "39topless" was referring to the fuel filter. If your not using one I would suggest you do.
Thanks for sharing and updating.

I love Marvel Mystery Oil! A old time natural remedy for a classic engine.
Whatever it is, it is good for these antique engines!

Sometimes the old time remedies are best.
Remember aspirin.
Nowadays People are using everything else but now they are finding that aspirin has curative properties good for many other things that ail you not just headaches.
A true marvel drug!

Now that I have the carburetors all in sync and cleaned I drove the car a few miles and the engine miss is still there so I decided to take the plugs out and found out I have #7/ 9 / 11 with the porcelain tip showing a bit of white so I think I have a few fouled plugs. I will change them NGK B4L is what I am using I will report later of my finding.

Thanks
