Default Head removal

i have been posting on the Model A side, i can't get the head off my model A. its stuck fast and hard. i have been soaking it with acetone and marvels. it won't move. broke out the porcine in 2 spark plugs. ran a chain between the 2 old plugs. i thought this would do it, nope. picked up the car off the ground and still did not move. i borrowed a head puller, and broke it. what do i do now! this is a pain tn the butt!

heads are cheap and common, run a hole saw around the studs, probably wont even have to go all the way down(risk of hitting the block), and may not have to do all of them. then, throw the head away and get another, or one of snyders hi compression head!

Lots of information on the Model A Forum about pulling difficult heads.

Have you tried putting the nuts back on the studs but backed off a little. Then start the engine up. It should blow the head free from the block. This is an old trick that was used to remove stuck heads.

yes, i have ran the engine for 2 cycles of 30 seconds, but i lost compression in 2 cylinders. i think i need to get between the casket and try to cut it out. it must be glued on with super glue!

one of my very talented, but hot temperd friends, was known to scream "you inanimate object you" , as he was beating it with a hammer! so, it sounds like this is a good motor, not one being torn down for rebuild ? i still say the head is worth nothing, you cant get 20 bucks for one here as most folks go for the new high compression head. meaning, what ever violence it takes, go for it. hole saw?

They will normally blow off, that one must be really stuck! I would be very careful doing anything around the block/head mating surface. You can replace a head easy enough, but if you mess up the block itself then you are looking at a new block.

Model A heads rust to the studs so cutting around the studs is probably needed. Have you tried to remove any studs. If you could get some out it m,ight help.
