Default Running board, what am I missing?

One of my running boards has what looks like a lip on the side facing out, but the other one is missing the lip. I just bought some stainless trim, and it looks like it might slip over the lip. I looked everywhere, but can't find that piece, or figure out how it attached to the end of the running board.

I attached a picture of each running board, and I apologize if the pictures aren't great, my garage is small and didn't feel like moving everything in the driveway to pull the car out.

It appears that the outer lip is missing.

I R&Red the running boards on my '29 Tudor. The outer lip on that car is a stainless (perhaps chromed, I don't know) piece that is actually bent to capture the lip of the steel running board. I wrote it up with a few pictures at https://cedarcreekas.org/TechTopics/...ningBoards.pdf

Regards,

Bill Lee

How does that outer lip attach?

If I can't find the original or a new one, can I substitute it with an L shaped steel beam that I would drill and bolt on and then cover with the trim piece?

I attached a couple of pictures of L shaped beams I had in mind.
