Default TZ Bridge - Last car over attempt

I am making an attempt to be the last car over the TZ Bridge (before the old span is officially closed tomorrow PM) in my 1929 Phaeton. This is the bridge that connects Rockland County and Westchester County over the Hudson river. I probably won't be that 'last car', but am hoping to time it to be at least one-of-the-last-1,000. I thought I would share this with Ford Barn.

That should be easy, A's are always breaking down! Shut the fuel valve off, maybe it would quit running mid span!

Seth, I hope you have good shocks, I remember going over it last year with a trailer of parts. Good luck and hold on to the wheel!

I'll bet that if you pull over and talk to the crew that will be putting up the barriers they like your idea and help you out.

Let us know how it works out.

I guess the prior link didn't do what I thought it was doing. Stay tuned. I'm heading to the garage shortly to check oil and turn the generator up so I can AHOOOGHA appropriately with my headlight on.

This is great! We've driven our Model A over mile high mountain passes, but you are waaay braver driving yours into NYC traffic. Did that once in a modern car, not for me. Best of luck! Love your blog by the way, stumbled onto it as a new Model A owner in 2014 and learned a lot.

Seth, that's fantastic. That is something that you will tell your great-grandchildren about. Did you just get lucky, or were you able to arrange it with the State Troopers?

That is so great...congratulations.
You and your car are now a part of recorded history.
One question...why was there not a mile long procession of Model A's and T's, and you still could have been the last to cross.
Opps...NYC, I forgot.

History
Opened December 15, 1955
Closed October 6, 2017

In that 62 years, how many cars passed over that bridge?
For one of the few rare times...being last makes you a winner.
Anyone know who the first was to cross the bridge? Of course not, but they'll damn sure remember the last.

Yeah, I knew that, just not at the time of the news broadcast. I figured it had to be one of the usual suspects or hoodlums that populate these parts. My suspicions proved correct! Again congrats.

Mazel tov!!! Seth, you were persistent and it paid off big time. Over the years, I really liked the old Tappan Zee bridge, but I'm sure I'll learn to love the new one. I loved seeing the video with you and your beautiful '29 traversing the old bridge.
Nice job.
