Water Soluble Grease

Hi All

Can you please help me to buy Water Soluble Grease for my 1929 Ford A water pump. What Brand have you used and where I can order ?

The Ford A shops only sell "Water resistant grease" and I do not want that. But when I Google "water soluble grease" the search results are confusing and I am not sure what to buy.

The only problem with greasing the waterpump is over pumping until the grease gets into the waterjacket. If you tend to do that just use chassis grease.

Thank you !! But my question was different. Unless chassis grease is "water soluble". In that case, what brand do you use?

Why are you wanting water soluble grease for the water pump? It was recommended not using water pump grease because it wouldn't melt in the radiator and clog up the system. Chassis grease if in the radiator can be cleaned out. The trick is to pump sparingly.

We are in different markets so I don't know what products over there do what but I have used the oil out of a radiator stop leak can and throw away the pellets. The problem is that most soluble oils will attack the rubber hoses. I have found a product that doesn't and it is US made so you should be able to get it.
It is made by Cyclo Industries LLC of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It is called Cooling System Anti Rust & Water pump Lube. It is clear and won't worry the hoses. Their product code is C-51
It is an excellent product.
For removal of rust from an existing system, you can't go past "Liquid Intelligence", an Australian company. Their rust removal process is a two step process and it is important you follow the directions. The usual water pump grease we buy is not a grease at all. It is a wax that melts in a warm cooling system

I don't know of any or what it is used for. I do use soluble oil in the radiator as Synchro909 is describing. If you happen to find any let us know what it is and I will see what its usses are.

Google search of "water proof grease meanin" below. If this grease gets to the water, I have read in many postings at FordBarn, will be clogging the radiator.

Simple Green will clean chassis grease from your radiator easier than a wax base lube. The cure is don't pump excess grease into the cooling system. Or use K-Y.

I will not have any issue to use one of these "water proof or water resistant grease" if I really could know what it is " do not lubricate in excess"

The fitting on the rear bearing of the water pump has a cap on it. I put some lube in the cap and screw it on, forcing lube into the bearing. With a good bearing, you will feel the resistance. I give it a half to one turn when I lube the distributor. (about 300 miles) If you think that is not enough, I suggest running a lubricating additive in the water, Like the Cyclo one I mentioned above.

Take your grease gun and give it 1 pump and measure the amount of grease that exits. Use the amount as a judgment on the number of pumps needed usually 1 or 2. Just don't take it to the local garage for a lube job! Want another grease area to worryt about? The zerks on the rear axle shafts need the same care in not overgreasing. 3-4 pumps there are all that is needed.
