Default Re: Ringing Noise From Transmission

All good possibilities mentioned so far.

Since it started all of a sudden at the stop sign, my first thought was something came loose on the clutch disc, like a spring, or loose rivets, etc. I have seen clutch discs with a spring missing, and also loose rivets on the retainer plate for the springs.

Wow, Tom... Someday I just have to meet you...you and I think so much alike...I was just thinking about those springs and what they would sound like....I just bet you are correct... it would make that noise...I have seen clutch disks missing springs... Great thought... I think a bolt in the bottom of the transmission would be a loud bang, or something real violent...but a spring inside the clutch would rattle around just like the noise in the problem.... My nickel is on your solution...
