Default Relocate the condenser

i have a stock 59AB in my 35 sedan, I an thinking about relocating the condenser from the distributor to the coil mounting bracket where it would be easier to change on the road. Anyone see a problem doing this?

I did just that on my '47 after experiencing ignition problems that I finally traced to the condensor. I don't think the extra foot of wire will slow us down.

Makes no difference back at the bus co. rear engine gas coaches coil and condenser were mounted on the side panel (so called fire wall) not on the distributor.

If it's away from the intense searing heat of the engine, it'll probably be more stable/last longer too. All electrical & electronic parts are that way.

No problem as long as you do it properly. The longer lead will add a small amount of capacitance to the system, but not nearly enough to make a difference. Use a minimum of 14 GA wire (I prefer 12) and make sure the terminals are crimped/soldered securely.

Why do you need to lengthen the lead? Why won't it work simply connecting it to the pos terminal on the coil?

Yeah, that's where mine is too....
but maybe that is wrong? that's why i asked the question. Tubman makes these things, hoping he can elucidate as to why the lead needs to be lengthened when condenser is mounted on the coil.

No. It can go onto the coil, just as "Brian" said. It really just has to be in the "coil/points" circuit somewhere. I was just commenting on a general relocating of the condenser away from the distributor, say on the firewall.
