The tuffest one for me was the stud that is exposed to the coolant inside the head. It caused the end of the stud to rust.

I've changed a lot of water pumps and the studs are never the problem. If there's a problem with getting a 2-blade off it's the impeller shaft length coming out of the head with relation to the fan / radiator cleanance and distance. You already have the pump clear of the studs anyway by the time you get the impeller to the pump mounting surface.
Not sure why everyone thinks the studs are so great. Ask someone when's the last time they had to removed studs to remove a pump. I'll bet it would be "never". It's just another part for snyders to sell.
