Early Y Block OHC 239 Spark Plugs
Did the early 239 Y Block have 18mm spark plugs, or, 14mm? Heard it both ways. I argue this once a week. Please, someone put this to bed. Thanks.

14mm. 1955 was the first year for the tapered seat 18mm. (If I'm remembering correctly)

Re: Early Y Block OHC 239 Spark Plugs
The EBU 239 had 14 mm - the EBV 239 (most of these ended up in trucks in 55) had 18mm.
Of course, over the years people have changed out heads, blocks, and the whole gamut. I have disassembled several Y blocks that had mismatched heads.

For whatever it's worth,
the '54 EBY / 256 engine I had used the metal gasket 14mm spark plugs also. . Last edited by dmsfrr; 07-19-2021 at 10:23 PM. |

FORD used CHAMPION from 1955 until they bought certain parts of AUTOLITE (but they won't), wanting mostly the SPARK PLUG DIVISION.
FOMOCO - ROTUNDA - AUTOLITE - MOTORCRAFT
