Default Trouble shooting questions from a beginner

I have recently started driving a Model A speedster that I have been working on for 25 years. Engine is 1928, remainder of chassis is mixed bag. All in all things are going better than I expected. I have decided to convert to a 30 amp alternator to support my sealed beam headlights. Has anyone used the NuRex 6volt alternator sold by Brattons? The engine start quite easily when cold. After shutting off and sitting for 1/2-2 hours it takes a bit of coaxing to get it started. I also have a little gas dripping from the throat of the carb when sitting. I did replace the float valve with a modern style. I am running regular gas. Any advice on working out the bugs would be appreciated. Thanks. Howie

if fuel is dripping out of the carb throat i would say the float is to high or the needle and seat isnt holding, if it is either one of those could be the reason for the hot starting after sitting for a while, probably flooding the engine

I have a NuRex 6V + ground alternator and it works just fine. When first starting after sitting for a while you have to rev the engine up for the alternator to "kick in". I have had it one my car for several years.
