Arnt the cabs for the 40-41 and the 42-46 ever so slightly different, as I'm sure you just can't fit a 40-41 front sheet metal on to a 42-46 cab as around the cowl sides are different...sorry if I'm wrong, it's just what i have always been told.

You've been told wrong. I have put 40-41 sheet metal on 42-47 cabs with no problems. You have to remove a hood bracket from the later cabs and buy a new small bracket from Bob Drake, among others, to bolt the fender to the firewall. Using the later truck chassis is another matter entirely.

Weather is finally warming. This cab would be a great start on a new pickup project. Put this on any 1935-40 Ford car or truck chassis and you are on your way.
You can take it home in the back of a pickup or on a small yard trailer. I've moved this cab in the back of one of my 40 pickups so I know it can be done.
