Default zinc plug

any suggestions on the best way to remove the zinc plug at the top of a 29 steering column? Mine is really in there!

Slide a piece of conduit into the column from the bottom. I use a chunk of galvanized pipe that used to keep the sag out of the middle of my grandmother's clothesline. Bounce the column on the pipe. A piece of 2X keeps the noise down and protects your garage floor. You won't have to pogo it very long before the bushing will pop out.

I ran an axle shaft up from the bottom and gave it some whacks with a big hammer. Some have two little screws holding it in, others have a "v" notch.
