'51 Fordomatic Trans.
What is the correct transmission fluid for a '51 Fordomatic? Original manual states "Type A"; is that still correct for today's fluid?
Thanks, Pete, Milford, CT |

Re: '51 Fordomatic Trans.
Type F is the type used after the use of whale oil was discontinued. It works well in all Borg Warner type automatic transmissions from the Ford/Merc-O-Matic for 1951 to the FMX.

Yes, indeed, type 'F'
And have found it on the shelf at local Walmart.
