Default 36 ford conv sedan rear bumper

I have a gap between the bumper frame extensions and the sheet metal on the inside where the bumper bracket will bolt on the outside. Is there some kind of metal extension to fill the gap?

I believe there are spacers that fill that gap between the body and the rear crossmember.

I did something a bit different on my 35. It may not pass the test of a purist, but i could tell from the body damage i had, it would be a problem again. I carefully hole sawed about a 1 1/2" hole centered on the bolt hole in the rear cross member then made a disc from that hard nylon material thick enough to space my bumper brackets just beyond the body. Now the bumper brackets wont mess up the paint. Paul

There is a spacer washer between the frame extension and the body for 35 and 36 Fords. See attached.

Thank you but I am talking about the 2-3 inch gap in the interior of the trunk between the frame extensions and the exterior sheet metal.

I believe that you are talking about the rear body brackets as shown on page 69 of The 1935-36 Ford Book
