Default 36 passenger door fitment

This forum has been invaluable to me so far. Lots of great advice. I now have a new question on my recently purchased 36 4 door sedan convertible.
How can I adjust the front passenger door forward? It does not sag and lines up nicely horizontally. But the door sticks badly on on B pillar. You can’t even open it from the inside. It looks like back edge of the door is hitting the latch plate and the screws are turned in as much as they will go. File off some of the height on the latch plate? Thanks!

You could try prying door forward with a board being careful not to scratch paint. You would only need small amount to cure problem.

I wonder if those two bolts heads are supposed to be flat rather than rounded on the latch? It almost appears that the door is hitting those two bolts heads

Looks like that may be it. I believe those bolt heads should be countersunk.

Keen eye.

Don Rogers will know for sure, but to me the male door catch doesn't appear to be an original.

Could be molested original striker, but looks like it might have been home made (awesome job...).

To move the door forward usually involves bending the hinges.

if the alignment of the door to the A pillar is good, then don't move the door forward. I also believe the catch is aftermarket and not original. If it is stainless it is definitely aftermarket. It appears the upper screw is not down all the way which may be due to the countersink in the catch not being quite deep enough. A change to flat head countersink screws may help.

I would remove the catch as well as any rubber bumpers. Then, see how the door closes. If it closes nicely, begin (re)installing one piece at a time until the issue reappears.
Then you at least know exactly where the problem is and can deal with it accordingly. Methodical approach...

Thanks to everyone. I am planning to replace the bolts with flat head countersinking bolts. If that doesn’t work, I’ll remove the striker and mill the backside so it isn’t so high

Here is part of an original striker plate drawing. Compare your hand made striker plate with the drawing. Your base appears to be too thick. Also, could you post a better picture of the edge of the door where catch is located. From your photo that part of the door seems misshapen.
