Default Flat Head Ted Locking nuts

What size are the Flat Head Locking nuts ?
I'm measuring about .612 diameter for the stud the locking nuts go on, Too small for a 5/8 - 18 thread. I'm working on a friends car without instructions, the locking nut are missing and I don't know what size they are.
Does know what size they are and where I can get them.
Thanks,
Al

Flathead is from "down under". Nut is probably metric.

Does not the FHT wedge screw into the same hole on the backing plate as the stock wedge? If so it would have the same thread, ⅝-18 thread.

5/8-18. Instructions are on the internet. Google "flathead ted brake floater kit"

The bolt or stud will sometimes be a little smaller than the nominal size. 5/8 is .625. Your measurement of .612 is close enough. The backing plates have to be tapped 5/8-18 for the FHT kit to fit. Ford had a different standard for the thread size. The modern standard is slightly larger.

Richard and Y-Blockhead thanks for your responses. This is what I'm learning - the info on line says to run the very short special tap through the back plate to "clean the threads". I think that special tap is cutting metric threads to accept the FHT studs. And so I need the metric jam nuts close in size to the 5/8-18 jam nut.
It seems to be coming together, thanks for your comments.

The backing plate is already tapped ⅝-18. The stock wedge is threaded ⅝-18. Bratton's catalog states they are ⅝-18. https://www.brattons.com/USA-BRAKE-A...ductinfo/2780/ I did not retap my backing plates and the FHTs kit fit fine.

The kit comes with a "thread cleaner is used to clean out rust and debris from the top adjuster hole to help simplify the fitting of the kit". Note it says "thread cleaner", not tap.

Al 29 Tudor, the instructions can be found on Snyder's online catalog. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/c...structions.pdf

Not metric. I used a 5/8-18 tap which worked fine. If a 5/8-18 thread cleaner (chaser) works then use that. The thread chaser would not have worked on my backing plates as the threads were too tight. The threads on my backing plates were in good shape with no rust so I concluded that Ford used a different thread standard.

Thanks to all for your input I do appreciate it. It's so helpful to hear your experiences. Now to find 5/8 - 18 thin jam nuts.
Thanks again, Al
