Restoration Standards and Service Bulletins.
These are two of the "must have" books for every Model A owner. There is so much good information in each of the books, it's fun to just pick them up at times and page through them to learn new things about the car.
Just 3 examples for the SB are the complete instructions for brake adjustments, overhauling the steering gear, and rebuilding the shocks. Try to find the full sized edition of the Service Bulletins, rather than the smaller sized yellow book. Both of these books are very inexpensive. |

Re: Restoration Standards and Service Bulletins.
I would add the owners manual. It has a wealth of information about how to drive and maintain the car.

Re: Restoration Standards and Service Bulletins.
Bratton's shows the same SERVICE BULLETINS book for only $16.50 and if you order other parts at the same time you won't be paying for extra postage.
I like the large edition that I bought years ago at the national MARC meet. It's too bad they sold out and haven't reprinted it again. |

Re: Restoration Standards and Service Bulletins.
Yes, the judging standards and the Ford service bulletins are excellent reference documents that every Model A person should have. I also highly recommend having the Ford branch letters that were sent to dealers because these letters note what the branch assembly lines were actually doing regarding the cut-in and cut-out of changes.
There are differences between the service letters issued by various branches, so it is good to have all of the different collections, Chicago, Indianapolis, etc. Also, the 1932 through 1934 Ford service bulletins have some useful info regarding the Model A & Model B engines.
