Edmonds 2x2 manifold
I have an opportunity to purchase an Edmonds 2 duece manifold. I am seeking any comments good or bad, prior to buying it. Anyone had any experience with one?

I bought one cheap and ran it on my stock '51 239" years ago. The car performed OK, but I never liked the layout. The front carb is located right behind the generator like all other regular duals that I've seen, but the rear carb is positioned too far back, and just looks awkward, IMO. I finally found an Edelbrock SU349 that, like most others, locate the carbs evenly over the intake ports, and sold the Edmunds. Bottom line, normal street performance should be OK with the Edmunds; it's the carb spacing that may be a problem visually. t Last edited by V8 Bob; 03-18-2013 at 02:35 PM. Reason: additional info |

I bought this car with one and don,t see anything wrong with this setup.
I have a electric fuel pump and looks like they used a sink drain pipe to fill oil cap. |

I have one on my 42 with Strom.97's. I think it works great. I have the 2" risers.

I've used them. On the street, you'll likely never know the difference. I'd run the risers as JWL suggests in his book. The nice part is you get to keep the generator in the stock location.

If you are looking for performance, suggest you look for an early Navarro, either the racing model, or the street version. Read the recent test in Hot Rod magazine.
If you read old articles on Eddie Edmunds, you will find he was a promoter making stuff so your car looked good. Performance was not the purpose of his products. He is not even listed in the book on the early speed parts mfg.s, "Merchant of Speed". Edmunds died at an early age from personal abuse. |

I like the Edmonds heads for two reasons, the relocated spark plug and the 8:1 CR on a 239. These did improve performance. Now you can take advantage of that re-located plug and run a power tip plug and burn a leaner mixture in cruise. Remember I'm trying to improve economy.
