Default fender differences 28-29 to30-31

What is the best way to tell the difference between these years of fronts. Actually need a easy way to tell in the field by looking. or do you need to measure. By pictures it looks like the shelf that rests on the frame is wider on the 30-3l's Thanks Tom

Look at a couple pictures (side views) of each style. You will see the 1928-9 fender HUGS the wheels, while the later 1930-1 is more streamlined with a longer more gentle curve into the running board.

Here's a helpful website with pictures - note the difference in the front fenders on the 28-29 and 30-31 . . . easy to spot the difference!

I'm NOT real KEEN on a lots of details of various years/body styles. But, for several years, I had an early '30 Coupe & an early '29 Coupe, side by side. It's really AMAZING to study the DIFFERENCES!!! It's almost like havin' a "MID-SIZE" & a "FULL-SIZE" Model A.
The '29 has a SMALLER & more aerodynamic frontal area & was better suited for DRY LAKES competition. Bill W.

The 1930 is a year by itself due to the combined fender and section of splash apron.
