EARLY 1928 Wishbone
Just took an early axle apart, when did the yoke at the end of the wishbone grow larger and stronger?

Late-1928.
Increased from 3/8" to 1/2".

The wishbone with the thicker spring perch/axle attachment ends that you compared to in the first photos are what replaced it in late-'28. The ball end remained the same. So you basically have the correct wishbone there for most 1928 models. Some of the latest '28's had the thicker pieces at the axle end. The earliest '28's (Jan/Feb) had a ball end that was a stamped and welded tubular design, instead of the forging, with the ball welded on to the end. Not as many of that style made in those first 2 months, and looks like a weak design to me.

This thread was started by a person that continually has said over the years, "I dont want, & dont need the Restoration Guide Lines & Judging Standards, so why should I buy it.. Here is a perfect example of why. HIS Answer is in Black & White right in the Book, along with many other ?? he has asked.
