Default Fenton 59AB intake question.

Does anyone have any knowledge of why Fenton has this particular generator mounting? I have not seen this on any other after market aluminum intakes of the times. Usually the mounting is as original a single post, these two holes almost look like the fan adjustment holes on 46-48 59AB engines. Mayby a later generator was called for? I just cannot see how a belt adjustment is to be made, mayby these required another bracket but I cannot see where an offset is necessary. Thanks for any response and help.

I believe this is made to directly take a '42-48 fan, with the bolt pattern for that and mounting surface moved forward by the thickness of the generator bracket.
There is no need for a surface to take the generator itself, as that has to go over on a bracket to cylinder head, and so this provides a good fan mounting where needed.
Adjustment is also handled...the mounts on the 59A fan are slotted and move on the 2 bolts.

Thanks for answers. Now to find a Fenton generator bracket. Learn something everyday always thought an offset generator bracket was a neccesity on only 3 carb manifolds not so on Fentons I guess.

It's necessary on performance duals except for extreme high rise types...pretty much same end carb placement as a triple.

Off set generator mount is required on all super duals, aswell as triples. Bruce had it, fan mount.

Do you want a Fenton-brand specifically? If not, they are available from Offy for both right or left side head mounting.

Note that offsets come in two styles...one tucks the gen up close to the manifold, probably what you want for '37 with high radiator hoses. Other one swings it farther away for '39-41 types with very low radiator hoses. Which is which, L or R, varies with the many manufacturers. The close-in model seems superior for belt/pulley contact.

I don't think (could be wrong) Fenton ever offered one. If they did, I don't think they were "branded" or cast with a logo for most aren't.

I'd check with Charlie Price in FL for he is repop'ing a lot of parts. Some of them were never offered originally, but they are made to match older parts like your intake.

Good luck!

Thank You, I found the website for Charlie Price /Vintage Speed. Interesting that he remakes Eddie Edmunds products and his short bio on Eddie. First Fenton intakes were Edmunds with logo wording change.

Type "Charlie Price" into the search box and do some informative reading about he and his charming bride before ordering. DD
