Vibration Time
Group,
New to Model A's. Around 40 MPH, I start to get some engine vibration. Just continues as I go faster. If I put in the clutch, the vibration stops. So...just how much vibration is O.K. ? Should the car be smooth over all speeds ? Regards, Marc |

Model A's do tend to have a vibration cycle that kicks in about 40 or so and smooths out at around 45.. the engine is not "balanced" like the modern cars as the crank , in it's original state, has no counterweights.. Try pushing it to 45 or so to see if the vibrations smooth out.. they all seem to have a preferred cruising speed where the vibrations are the lowest, and in the majority of my rigs, it's 45 or so. there may be other issues, but 40 mph is traditionally, about where most of the vibrations seem to "peak" See if you can locate another A enthusiast in your area, and take a ride in their car, or take him for a ride in yours.. I think you will find they behave pretty similarly - Dave in Boise |
