Columbia Two-Speed

Hey guys, need some help. We have a Columbia 2-speed on our '39 coupe and need instructions on how to adjust. It was working just fine, but the clutch pedal was a little low and adjusted it. Having done so, now the 2-speed doesn't shift. Looked for a thread but found none. Help??? (And any suggestion that I re-adjust the clutch pedal to where it was before does not count.)

The 1940 instructions say to adjust the clevis in the valve operating rod so that the lever depresses the plunger in the valve 1/8 to 1/4 inch when the clutch pedal is depressed to the floor.

Movement of the clutch also has to work a valve, perhaps when the clevis pin was removed to adjust the linkage rod for the valve didn't get put back the same

What 4dFord/SC said x2. By changing your clutch adjustment, you changed the vacuum valve adjustment. There should be a small rod from the bottom of the clutch pedal up to the valve that needs readjustment.

As others have said, The rod between the clutch pedal and the vacuum switch needs adjustment. If you raised the pedal, the rod needs to be lengthened.

"The clutch pedal valve must not open until the engine clutch is completely disengaged; there should be ½" minimum pedal travel from the disengagement of the clutch to the opening of the valve."
