Hello y'all,

I will be rebuilding my stock 32 front end with new rubber balls that go on the end of the wishbone and friction shocks. Do I grease them? And if so with what type of grease? Also should I grease the perch pin bushings. Also who makes the best spring and perch pin bushings? I thought about making my own out of delron stock that I have. But they might be to hard. I also have graphite stock. Is rubber the only way to go. I can make them quick and easy on my lathe. Has anyone here every used other than rubber to make their own bushings? Thanks for all the help. I guess I shouldn't say stock front end as I'm having the axel dropped and the stock spindles bent to match with new kings pins installed. Thanks.

Not grease, but rather spray-on silicone for the rubber parts.

I made some bushings out of aluminum. No problems so far, 700-1000 miles, but had I known of the commercially available varieties, urethane, etc., at the time, I would have gone that way. The rubber ball on my 39 popped right on with a little soap/water.

I have the ball on I'm just talking about, do they run dry or grease/silicone spray for keeping them from squeaking and wearing because they are dry? Thank you guys

If you are not stock go with the urethane bushings. You can buy the bushing and shackle kits at most any V-8 parts dealers or hotrod shops.

Well I don't want it to look like a brand new shinny shackle kit. My car is a period/era correct 40s hotrod so I don't want it to look like I just bought new parts and installed them so I will still use my old shackles just looking to replace the rubber/urethane bushings. And I don't want them to say drake on them like ones I have seen. So I guess I'm looking for more of a stock looking bushing if anyone makes them.

Paint them satin black and they won't look bright and shiny.
