Default 37 engine with later oilpump?

Im working on a 37 engine my thought was (cuz its on the shelf) to install a later 80lb (41a p/n) oilpump and relief spring in the valve chamber. the green book indicates its a superceded, direct replacement for the 50lb pump. some are insisting that it will lead to a rearmain leak due to the slinger type crank. anyone out there been there dun that or offer an opinion?...al
