Wood thickness

How thick is the wood frame on a 1929 Cabriolet? I want to do a mock up so I can bolt the body to the metal frame. Steve |

Re: Wood thickness
I would try contacting one of the suppliers for the wood kits , tell them what you want to do , and maybe they could give you a few dim's . All the pieces arent the same thickness are they ?

Re: Wood thickness
It varies if you are speaking of the 2 sub rails. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 is about right.

The Side sills on the Victoria are 1 3/4" thick. Don't know about the Cabriolet.

Re: Wood thickness
The reproduction side rails for my late-year 1930 Cabriolet (68B) measure 1 23/32" thick at the front and center section; the rear 25" of the side rails have an extra piece on top of the rails which is the same contour and width of the rest of the frame, so combined, they measure 2 3/32" thick. Also, as I understand it, originally there was at least one layer of 1/8" thick mounting pads between the metal chassis and frame wood, more if needed. I'm grappling with the same issues on my car because the original wood is in pieces. Hope this helps!
