Default Galvanizing a Brass Screw

I know this is random, but I am struggling to find a #10 oval headed steel screw, -however I can find all sizes & lengths in Brass. Does anyone have any experience in some type of coating that I can use on Brass to replicate a Cold Galvanized look? Maybe the same Galvanized look onto Stainless screws??

Brent,
I don't think I have ever seen galvanized wood screws (I assume you are concerned with wood screws) in my work on model A's. Most are unfinished or nickel plated. Fastenal is where I have purchased most of my fasteners. They have a large selection of slotted fasteners. The link below goes to their website.

Most welding shops sell cold galvenizing coating in a spray can. Never tried it on brass though.

Brent, try www.boltdepot.com
If you can't find a steel screw what about stainless screws and a can of cold galvanize spray? At least that way if the coating gets scratched you won't see yellow brass....

Tin it with that no lead solder or old Babbitt perhaps
What lengths/quantity, if it's only a few I can look in the wwll surplus box
And is it 10-32 machine screw, or #10 wood screw

Technically zinc will plate directly on electro-cleaned brass, but in some environments a secondary atmospheric reaction may cause a dark brown/blackening of the finish in a few months.

The best result will be a cyanide copper strike on the brass (acid copper will not bond to most brass alloys) followed by a low current density acid nickel without brighteners. Again electro-clean and it should then plate well with zinc not suffering any secondary alloying interaction with the underlying copper. As to the final zinc being bright (shiny) like modern hardware or dull will depend on the additives to the zinc bath.

I have used stainless screws and bead blasted them to simulate cad plating. Close but no cigar I would guess in fine point. Most of today screws are small heads than old screws anyway. I am “assuming” by just #10 you are speaking of wood screws?
McMaster Carr has them in stainless

That's what I'd do. Galvanized paint looks like grey paint, I have used it. It does not look like zinc.
