Pins for holding door and window handles in place
I have a 1950 Ford and the door and window handles are held in place with pins. You can buy the handles but they do not include the pins. What does everyone use for pins. Thank you

I use bits snipped from 1/8" welding wire. You could cut the ends off 1/8" drills or any suitable steel material, like a nail or coat hanger wire.

I bet you could use a common nail filed to fit.

A person can purchase bare welding rod in 36" lengths at a hardware store, or TSC even.

Re: Pins for holding door and window handles in place
I've used all kinds of things over the years; but I actually thought ahead a while back and included several packs of pins when I was ordering some stuff from C&G.
I didn't have to fool around making pins when I put the handles on my car or go make an extra one when I managed to lose one. On the other hand; I'll have to remember where I put them when I go to put handles on our '47. |
