Default Nov. 28 Carburetor?

Opinions are sought! Is this correct for a Nov. 28 car? Looking through the JS, it would appear so, but there are some discrepancies, I think. There is a very faint "H" on the upper half throat area. Feedback appreciated.

From what you can see in the photo it appears you are correct. There are items that cannot be seen in the photo that are listed in the Holley table on page 1-13 revised 2011 Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards that need to be confirmed, such as:
GAV-UNDERSIDE ROUNDED TO REAR
SECONDARY WELL VENT HOLE - 9/32
3rd BRASS PLUG – NEAR MAIN BOLT UNDER BOWL

Thanks 160-B. I just wanted to see if other people were seeing the same things as me. The 3rd brass plug is indeed under the bowl near the main bolt, the vent hole is 9/32", and the GAV boss underneath is rounded to the rear, rather than to the side. Therefore this is a Holley carb used from Oct-Dec. of 1928. This came off a nov. 28 car that has been in a time capsule since 1955, but you never know what has been changed before 1955 when the car was actuall still being driven. Thanks again:
mike

Hi Mike,
I have attached two photos of my (I think) original carburetor. I have a 28 Leatherback. I just rebuilt the carb but these photos are from before. the rebuild. I think this carb was used from Oct thru Dec 28.

supergnat: From what your photos show, you are correct. You have an Oct-Dec 1928 Holley carb. I say this because it appears that the boss on the underside of your GAV is rounded to the rear, rather than to the side, or square in both directions. If you separate the halves of your carb, check to see that the secondary vent hole in the lower half is 9/32". The ony difference I can see between your carb and mine is that you have a more pronounced "H" on the throat area, which doesn't mean much. Mike
