Default Split vs solid pistons

What are the pros and cons between the semi split piston vs the solid. The engine has the split already fit to the bore, so I'm leaning towards re using them! With new rings and deglazed cylinders of course.

Piston with the heat expansion split can have less piston to bore clearance and allow oil thur that's good but IMHO it is where they can crack and break
I like solid as used in modern engines

split pistons in a model a is fine because the engine is a low compression, low horse power and low rpm engine, i wouldnt use them in my street rod tho
