I used a pressure washer . Just dry it quickly afterwards.

I agree with not sand blasting the inside, too much risk of not getting it all cleaned out.
I prefere to clean the inside with the wash of your choice, and sand blast the assembled unit with all the openings EXTREMELY sealed off.
