Default Which wheels do I need?

I purchased a 40 ford coupe sitting in a field since 1954 and someone stole the wheels off it years ago. I need to get some wheels and tires on it to move it. I think I found some originals but not sure of the size yet because the guy is a a swap meet in Canada. Should they be 16"? If so I am worried about finding 16" used tires. What do you recommend for the cheapest and easiest way go?

16" is the original wheel diameter. 15" Ford pickup wheels will bolt right on. 60s through the early 90s used the 5 x 5.5" bolt circle.

Ford used the 5.5" bolt pattern up thru 1996 1/2 ton pickups.
In 1997 Ford made the bolt pattern a fraction of an inch smaller 5.31"
and to the naked eye, you can't see the difference, they used that
pattern thru 2003, then went to 6 lug in 2004, but up
to '96 will fit the '40 Ford car and pickup.
