Default 36 rubber covers for aftermarket boards?

Recently purchased a 36 coupe and have been trying to unstreet rod it. It has a set of smooth running boards on it that I would like to cover. Has anyone tried covering smoothies with anyone’s aftermarket rubber covers? Think this would look better than using rubber floor runners if the fit isn’t real bad using covers.

If the boards are the same shape and proper dimensions compared to originals, the covers should work.

Which smooth ones should not be.

For proper fit and appearance a smooth board should be oversized to match the exterior of a rubber covered board, and the bottom edge should not have the bottom bead that is needed for the rubber to lock into.

In addition, many repro boards are straight front to back. They should have a slight curvature to match the contour line of the bottom of the body.

Thanks Karl looks like I will have to use rubber floor runners or find a set of stock boards.

I have a set of boards from a 36 tudor. Don't know if they are the same as a coupe. I will be selling the steel boards (repaired) and new covers.

Not sure how stock u want it to look but beings the smooth boards r'nt correct anyway you might try a flat textured look using PU bed liner spray on product. It'll give a nice looking very tough satin to flat textured finish like Rino liner looks in a PU bed. Just thought.

The running boards for all 35-36 passenger cars are the same for all body styles.
