'36 Running Board Chrome Trim ?

I have a nice 1936 Ford Cabriolet, but there are no chrome or stainless strips along the bottom edge of the running boards. I have seen them with and without this trim.

Which is correct? If the trim is required to be as original, where can it be purchased?
