Default Oil pan assembly sequence

Can I put the oil pan in the frame and get the front wish bone attached, then drop the engine in later?

A quick hint, well maybe not quick...
Spray glue the pan gasket on the whole pan, Lightly grease the engine rail. Install the ball cap on the trans shaft and set those two pieces into the pan and SNUG the ball cap to the lower pan bolts. That's gonna dictate alignment from the block to the pan. Wiggle it around a little so it settles in to the sweet spot. Lightly snug a few pan rail bolts into the block. LIGHTLY so that when you put the hogshead down, a different sweet spot may be found. The whole unit, block, pan , trans #4 bearing and hogshead needs to be assembled before tightening anything permanently. Don't forget the gasket between the ball cap and pan, but NO gasket between the ball cap and u-joint ball. Ive done this less than 100 times and never a failure or leak, but if you ask this across the hall itll turn in to a debate about marvel mystery oil, and installing clincher tires on split rims. Think like a farmer doing it in the barn by oil light before the cows need milking... ws

Thanks for the tips fellers. I'll take all the free lessons I can to avoid doing things twice.
I like the farmer analogy.
Whenever I get all frothy about torque values, etc., I think of those guys in the old days using crappy tools and poor lighting. It helps put things in perspective.
