Default Making Your Own Carpets

I recently wanted to make a front carpet for my 32 Coupe. After you have picked a carpet, made a pattern and cut out the carpet, the big job is putting on an edging which can be expensive if you take the carpet to an installer. Take a look at the binding that is provided by the Installerstore.com. I have just finished using the Instabind Carpet Binding Tape and it works just great. I used their "regular style" binding. I also picked up some pyramid style rubber padding at Hershey as a heel pad and trim around the transmission/emergency brake handle. I cut out a rectangular rubber pad and a corresponding hole in the carpet and used regular carpet seam tape to hold the pad in place. I found that if you put the front edge of the rubber pad at the break point between the two floor boards, you get a stress free fit.

I think I was able to make this carpet for half the cost of a professional carpet. Have some fun! Ed

Ed - sounds great. We would like to see some pics. When people do things like this, they should take pics as they do it - it would be a nice to see how it is done.

I used a piece of burlap & Peggy sewed it on the marine indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowes. I made the extra support fron scrap metal from a metal roof along with the drip pan on the 34 5/W.
