Blindback fordor?
Yesterday I looked at a really nice 1930 blindback. Now my question. It had mohair interior and a fold-down armrest in the back seat. I questioned the armrest as I thought only the town sedan had that feature. Was the blindback ever designated as a town sedan or did all the TS cars have three side windows? I've looked in all of the literature I have and can't find an answer. I also can't find if there was a separate model designation for the blindback. What can you all tell me?

The 1930 2 window Fordor, came in 2 versions, standard and delux. I believe the the delux had the features you mention. The model number for both was 170B.

The "Deluxe Fordor" has the same features as a "Town Sedan". Marco has his featured on his web site. http://www.abarnyard.com/fordor/fordor.shtml |

Re: Blindback fordor?
All good to know, thanks, guys. You're right, Don. If Marco says it, it must be fact. Eagle, I wasn't looking to buy the blindback, I already have a '30 town sedan. Had it for 25 years. I just asked the question because I thought I knew everything already. Every time I get on Ford Barn I learn something new.
Thanks, guys, Marty |

Re: Blindback fordor?
The "blindback" Fordor was technically called the "Deluxe Fordor" by Ford in 1930. It is a deluxe model, with all the features of the Town Sedan.

Re: Blindback fordor?
There is also a "Standard" version of the "blindback Fordor". It is exactly the same body as the "Deluxe" version, but without the deluxe features as found in the Town Sedan. You just don't see as many of them as the Deluxe Fordor.

Re: Blindback fordor?
I have a Standard model. No cowl lights, no rear armrest, and a real plain interior.

Re: Blindback fordor?
Huh, you are correct sir! I always thought the 170-B was exclusively a deluxe model, but I stand corrected. I see on the MAFCA website where they list body styles that there is in fact a 170-B and a 170-B Deluxe listed for 1930. You learn something every day.
